COLD SHEAR SYSTEMS

Quad has developed a unique quick blade change and setup system for high capacity cold shears to help improve cutting quality and reduce blade change downtime. The shear blades are contained in a cartridge where the blade gaps can be set off-line to the desired gap. Both blades are changed out at the same time, reducing downtime delays.

Quad has re-engineered existing shears for a safer operation while increasing throughput and improving blade life. An automated crop handling system allows the operator to manipulate the head and tail crop operation from the mill pulpit for a cost effective improvement to the cold shear operation. Gauge beams and new gauge heads can improve both length accuracy and length change times.
